Who Am I?

My music evolved through exposure to poetry and improvised music. There I learned how to listen, how to feel music bubble up in me like a spring longing for a wanderer to drink. Songs started landing in both moments of ecstatic gratitude and defeated disillusionment. Songwriting became my primary mode of working through my human experience. Inspired by the wisdom of poets like June Jordan and song writers like Kate Wolf and Joni Mitchell, I began crafting my own language in an attempt to weave chaos into cosmos.

I am a child of the bluegrass festival. On my fourth birthday, San Francisco gave me the most incredible gift, a free festival on my birthday weekend every year within walking distance from my house. From Hardly Strictly in Golden Gate Park to Kate Wolf Festival, I grew up with a deep love for folk music and the culture that surrounded it. I began taking guitar lessons at 9 years old and quickly took to song writing, crafting songs about my dog and “the simple things in life” in the following years. As the years went on, I played here and there, picking up a ukulele mid high school, until college when I started writing songs again to process the endless stream of information I was being exposed to.
